Mango Witch

Hello, I’m mango. I’m a multi-disciplinary artist based in St. George, Utah. My work is not only an exploration of the natural world, but also to converse with, celebrate, and pay respect to our surroundings.

Many of my visuals explore the beauty of being human and is a romantic declaration of my experience in the present. my art is fearless when it comes to the unknown; my work is where i can explore my shadow-self and thoughts with no bounds.

my hobbies include: exploring the world and learning about different cultures; writing and reading poetry; giving back and building stronger communities; experimenting and learning new skills; and spoiling my cat, Lucy.

Cancer

  • Wheel Thrown and hand-sculpted by a Cancer Sun. Hand-painted by a cancer rising.

This mug pays homage to the fourth astrological sign, Cancer.

Cancer is ruled by the moon and is associated with the fourth house of the zodiac, which represents home life, family, and foundations.

This mug visually has influences from Traditional Japanese Tattoos as well as Chinese mythology. At first glance, the mug looks like Heikegani (or Samurai crab), a species of crab native to Japan. It naturally features a shell that bears a pattern resembling a human and/or angry samurai face.

The face on this mug is inspired by the Chinese Guardian Lions. Chinese Guardian Lions symbolize prosperity, success, and good luck. They ward off evil spirits, and protect from harm. It is important to note that Guardian Lions normally appear as a pair as they represent the polarities of humanity and nature.

The imagery of the Chinese Guardian Lions, Koi, and Dragons are to protect the home and bring good fortune, wealth, strength, and wisdom.
